Enjoy SXSW 2018

It’s March and thousands of people are pouring into Austin, which could only mean one thing—SXSW 2018 has arrived!

With so many panels, conferences, shows and events taking place, it can be overwhelming. But, having so many options also means there are a lot of opportunities for you to take part in SXSW in some way.

This year several ECPR clients, including Google, Downtown Austin Alliance, MLS2ATX and St. David’s HealthCare, are participating in numerous SXSW events covering an array of interesting topics. If you’re looking for great events to enjoy, don’t miss them!

MLS2ATX

Major League Soccer is hoping to come to Austin and will use SXSW to spread the word! MLS2ATX has partnered with RideAustin to provide safe transportation for SXSW attendees. Use code MLS2ATX for $5 off rides during SXSW – while supplies last.

Also, be on the look-out for soccer “freestylers” in official MLS2ATX gear around downtown Austin. Grab a cool photo for social – be sure to tag @MLS2ATX – or some free MLS2ATX swag!

Downtown Austin Alliance

No one knows downtown Austin better than the Downtown Alliance, and they are using that knowledge to provide free walking tours on March 12 and March 13 to those who register, highlighting Austin’s emerging downtown parks and public spaces.

Google

It wouldn’t be SXSW without a presence from Google. Google will be involved in several SXSW activities, including a premiere of Project Upgrade, a six-episode YouTube series featuring the Merrell Twins to encourage young women to build and code. As part of Women’s History Month, Google and Wayfarer Entertainment have partnered for this event to show teen girls that technology can help them create anything they see missing in the world and provide local area teen girls with a unique experience to explore, create and discover.

Additionally, Daniel Lucio, community impact manager at Google Fiber, will be speaking in a panel on March 12 titled “Minority Report: Engaging Kids of Color in Tech” alongside representatives from Black Girls Code, Border Kids Code and Latinitas.

St. David’s HealthCare

St. David’s HealthCare will have several representatives on panels in the Health and Startup & Tech sectors. Hear from St. David’s HealthCare leadership about how successful businesses give back to the community, as well as the future of robotics in modern medicine. The panels in which they will be featured in include:

Giving Back Rocks: How Austin Brands Do it.

Mobility Beyond Wheelchairs: Robotic Exoskeletons

Reprogramming the Brain with Upper Body Robotics
